Christmas lights
Christmas lights come in a variety of types. The traditional bulbs that are connected in series can cause problems because when one bulb goes out they all go out. Modern strings of decorative Christmas lights are sometimes fitted with LEDs (light emitting diodes) these consume a lot less power than ordinary bulbs. Many people fit these LEDs as strings of lights outside their homes, either around the guttering or on trees and bushes.
